5 Brands That Care About a Healthier World + A Healthier YOU!

Building a fairer, healthier world

Each year on April 7th, World Health Day, we raise awareness of various public health issues – with each year changing themes. This year’s theme is to “Build a Fairer, Healthier World.” What does this mean? As COVID-19 has highlighted, some people are able to live healthier lives and have better access to health services than others - entirely due to the conditions in which they are born, grow, live, work and age. Everyone should have living and working conditions that are conducive to good health.

So, this World Health Day – I’m highlighting companies that abide by strict environmental and health rules and regulations, they pay extra wages to workers so they can make a living wage, they are who need our dollars and support.

On top of that, World Health Day raises awareness for public health issues -- and it goes without saying that what you put on your skin matters. These 5 Brands care about the earth, the communities the products impact + best of all your skin!

1. Delilah Home

WHAT IS IT: 100% Hemp Bed Sheets

REVIEW: The 100% hemp sheets are cooling and honestly the best sheets I’ve ever had.

ABOUT THE COMPANY: They offer a 100 day warranty and have the following certifications: GOTS, OneCert, Organic Trade Association, Green America, Textile Exchange, and are Certified Vegan. Sustainability, impact, community are the fundamental pillars of Delilah Home. Delilah Home textiles do not contain allergenic, carcinogenic, or toxic chemicals commonly used in conventional cotton textile production. As a result, their products are ideal for people with allergies, skin sensitivity, and respiratory problems. The 100% Organic Cotton has a 300 GSM thread count while the 100% Organic Hemp has a 180 GSM thread count.

2. Lavé

WHAT IT IS: Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash + Lotion

REVIEW: I got the Shower Staple Kit + Lotion and it came with aluminum bottles, the shower base, as well as the refill bags the staples come in. It was decently easy to get the liquids into the bottles (the lotion being the hardest – I think because it was the thickest?). The base adhered to the shower easy enough, though the logo on the bottles immediately rubbed off when the bottles got wet. However, the kit comes with sticker labels that you use to label the bottles anyway, and those stick pretty well to the bottle allowing you to still know which bottle is which.

ABOUT THE COMPANY: Lavé only produces all-natural, healthy home and care products that meet Whole Foods Beauty Standards. They also ban over 100 chemicals which they list on their site that have been linked to causing any sort of disease. They also use recycled plastic for the refill pouches that account for 1/6th the amount of plastic that traditional 16 oz bottles use.

REVIEW: When I tried these masks for the first time, the texture of the mask itself did feel funny – but now I really enjoy the way it feels. I’ve noticed it sticks to my skin better than a normal mask and I feel like it’s been absorbing into my skin better as well. I could feel a difference in my skin after use – definitely recommend.

ABOUT THE COMPANY: Made by a doctor and of natural and organic ingredients, these sheet masks are one of the only ones on the market that are also biodegradable!
