A guide for beginners to CBD
The CBD Rundown: a guide for beginners

If you’ve never tried CBD before, this beginner's guide is for you! I’m going to be telling you about all the different types of CBD products out there, the differences of each, and what CBD is helpful for.

Personally, I am a big fan of CBD – it really helps give me a sense of calmness and makes me more relaxed when I’m trying to calm down after a busy day. I also get migraines and because of its anti-inflammatory properties, CBD helps with those really bad headaches.

Health Benefits of CBD

There are many health uses of CBD, but some of the most common are:

Relieves chronic pain

Reduces Anxiety

Reduces Inflammation

Is an Antioxidant

Neuroprotectant: Its been known to help with insomnia, depression, and ADHD

One of the things about CBD is that there is no point where you realize you "feel something" you just later realize you felt the absence of something. Such as, the absence of anxiety, the absence of pain, the absence of sleeplessness, etc. My best friend even swears by CBD helping her with her postpartum depression after having her first kid.

Pills vs. CBD

Because of the properties CBD contains and because of the benefits on your health, CBD can replace certain medications and pills, which contain all sorts of chemicals. Some of the pills that CBD can replace are: oxycontin, Vicodin, Aleve, Xanex, Ativan, Valium, Ambien, Lunesta, prozac, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, adderall and Ritalin.

As someone who grew up with both of her parents being pharmaceutical sales reps, you DON'T want to be stuck taking pills your whole life. It causes kidney damage and can lead to renal failure. Though, you should always consult your own doctor before switching off any medications to CBD. Though CBD is natural, if your body requires more than that - your doctor will know and be able to tell you which medications you should stay on.

Uses of CBD

Personally, I am a big fan of CBD – it really helps give me a sense of calmness and makes me more relaxed when I’m trying to calm down after a busy day. According to Medical News Today, below are common effects of CBD for other people:

  • To feel more relaxed

  • Post workout relief

  • A better night sleep

  • Help with quitting smoking

  • Muscle pain relief with balm/salve

  • Reduce nausea feelings

Did you know that humans aren’t the only ones who can benefit from CBD?! Pets also experience relief from anxiety and inflammation related pains. Some of the benefits of their tinctures and chews are:

  • Increased mobility for mature animals or animals suffering from arthritis or hip issues

  • Creates a sense of calm especially common for rescue dogs but can also help dogs adjusting to new home environments or simply high strung

  • Increases appetite and reduces nausea and vomiting

Different Types of CBD Products

Softgels are gel pill forms of CBD oil and come in 10 and 25 mg capsules. Joy Organics Soft gel capsules use nano emulsion technology allowing capsules to have 4 times the absorption rate requiring less intake for full effectiveness. Essentially, softgels are more potent than tinctures.

What you think of when you think CBD oil. Joy Organics has six (6) tincture flavors: Mint, Orange, Lemon, Natural, Tropic Sunrise and Fresh Lime (full spectrum only) and is available in an array of strengths: 450mg, 900mg, 1350mg, 2250mg. Tinctures are great options for micro-dosing if you aren’t sure how CBD will affect you.

Topicals are anything from salves to creams to bath bombs – anything that touches the skin while its activated. These are meant to heal you directly where you feel tension or pain by getting through your skin.

Joy Organics has two flavors of gummies: strawberry lemonade and green apple orchard. Gummies are also vegan and corn syrup free. This is a great option if you’ve never tried CBD before and want to micro-dose.

Pet Tinctures and Chews:

Yes, Joy Organics even has CBD products for animals. Humans aren’t the only ones who can benefit from CBD. Pets also experience relief from anxiety and inflammation related pains.

Most people think that the tinctures and oils are the most potent of the CBD products. But, actually, due to the way the softgels are made, the softgels have a bio-availabillity of up to 200% more than an oil-based CBD product. What does bio-availability mean? It is the degree and rate at which a substance that is absorbed into the bloodstream - making the softgels the most potent of the products.

What to Try as a Newbie

The Gummies are the least potent so they are the best product to try if you want something other than a topical. Topicals like creams, salves and bath bombs are also very slight in their effect.

What You Put Into Your Body Matters
